Missing Person: Courtland Mumford, Male, Native Place: OregonPortland, Mr. Mumford was last seen in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 7, 2007, when he left home to travel to the airport in Aurora, Oregon. Family reported Mumford missing after he did not return home from a scheduled test flight of a recently purchased aircraft. Mr. Mumford is a retired commercial airline pilot with more than 27,000 hours of flight experience. He is also a certified flight instructor. He apparently did not file a flight plan on July 7, 2007, because he did not plan to leave the area. Mr. Mumford had recently obtained a new plane from the manufacturer. He had specifically ordered it without an emergency locator but had planned to order an upgraded emergency locator system from another manufacturer, which had yet to be installed.
